it's not supposed to be this way

Do you see this photo? I just this minute stepped out on the deck to take it. You will notice the players in the bottom half are doing all they can to bring on Spring. There's some green, a wildflower or two, a bud here and there--a bit of a turning toward warm, and easy, and hopeful.

The top half, though? LORDAMERCY that's winter blowing in. Again. Our current forecast is for SNOW SHOWERS starting shortly and continuing through the night.

How many weeks can we go through this? How many times can I write about it?

Y'all.

I mean.

This is not normal. Not even here, at this high elevation. Not on May 8th.

THANK HEAVENS FOR ALL THE GOOD.

There is so much good.

I "read" this book on audio from the library, and I am so glad I did. I'll be buying You're Not Listening in hardback because I think it's one of the most important books of our time. Murphy is a journalist who brings years of experience to her subject--her observations are keen and her suggestions are practical. I love what the Kirkus review says: A valuable corrective for a talkative culture. There's so much more here than you expect. Love, love, love this book.
