We were visiting my cousins in Georgia, a plan hatched specifically as a spirit-lifter for my sweet Daddy. But the weekend turned out to be a special gift to each one of us. Everywhere I turned, it seemed, were small gatherings of cousins and brothers, uncles and sisters-in-law, friends and husbands and nieces—chatting, listening, laughing.
They were the in-between moments, unscheduled, unforced, unheralded.
Except, of course, by our hearts.
