when the rains came

May 7, 2013 | nature & awe

Baby ducks X 3, that’s what we have in the Canada Goose department at Bickley’s Pond this Spring. Even though I know what a nuisance those grown-ups can be, I simply can’t resist the precious yellow furballs that scurry across our lawn in early May. They are little for about 15 minutes. But during that time? Heavens, they are cute.

They came ashore with gusto during the weekend’s monsoon, peck peck pecking their way across our lawn.

You first!

No, you first!

The harder it rained, the happier they seemed to be. Especially when they found their way to their own duckling-sized swimming hole in the middle of the rain-soaked lawn.

And back to Bickley’s Pond they go.
