Finding God

Aug 25, 2012 | god & grace | 2 comments

If ever you wonder where God is, spend an afternoon in a skilled nursing facility. Look into the faces of the gentle souls who work there~addressing every need of every resident with remarkable kindness, patience, generosity, selflessness. Day after night after day.

I don’t know how they do it. I only know I am deeply grateful that they do.

What a wondrous expression of God’s love. What a beautiful example to the rest of us, imperfect mortals that we are.

As one who is privileged to minister in such a facility on a daily basis I see the gentle hands of God at work as staff cares for our residents. I hear the tender voice of God speaking through the staff to our residents. And I am enveloped by the awesome love of God in the eyes of each of our residents. What an awesome blessing! Cathy, thank you for recognizing for the special gifts that often overworked and underpaid staff members bring.

Fran, you are at the top of the list of those who are most generous. On behalf of all the families who owe such a debt of gratitude to workers in retirement communities and nursing facilities everywhere, I say thank you, thank you, thank you!
